Chris Cunningham

This is one of Chris Cunningham’s music videos.

Chris Cunningham is a British video artist who was born in Reading, Berkshire and then grew u in Lakenheath, Suffolk. Cunningham has directed music videos for ambient music and electronica acts such as Autechre and Aphex Twin. He has also created art installations and directed short movies. He has also approached to direct a movie version of the Cyberpunk novel Neuromancer, however nothing came of early discussions.

In the 2000’s, Cunningham began doing music production work. He also designed album artwork for a variety of musicians. Some of Cunninghams best known work are videos for Aphex Twin’s “Come to Daddy” and “Windowlicker”. The video “Windowlicker” was nominated for the “best video” at the Brit Awards 2000.

 

Spike Jonze

Spike Jonze is an Americian director, producer, screenwriter and also an actor. Jonze work includes music videos, commercials, film, and also television.

Jonze film career with “Being John Malkovich” and “Adaptation”, both written by “Charlie Kaufman” , and he then started creating movies with screenplays of his own with “Where the Wild things are” and also “Her”.

Jonze is well known for his music video collaborations with Darft Punk, Fatboy Slim, Weezer, the Beastie Boys, Bjork, and Kanye West. He was also a co-creator and executive producer of MTV’s Jackass. Jonze is now currently the creative director of “Vice Media”.

He has also been nominated for four Academy Awards: Best Director for being “John Malkovich” and best picture, best original screenplay and best original song.

 

Michel Gondry

Michel Gondry is a french is a French independent film director, screenwriter, and producer. He is known for his inventive visual style and also his distinctive manipulation of mise en scene.

Gondry won an Academy Award for the best original screenplay as one of the writers of “Eternal Sunshine of Spotless Mind” in 2004, which is also ranked one of the greatest films of the 2000s.

Gondry is also well known for his music videos collaborations with Beck, The Chemical Brothers, Bjork and The White Stripes.

 

David Fincher

David Fincher is an American producer and director, mainly focused on films, television series, and music videos.

He was nominated for the Academy Award for best Director for the romantic fantasy drama “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” in 2008 and also the drama “The Social Network”  in 2010. For the latter, Fincher won the Golden Globe Award for Best Director and the BAFTA Award for best direction.

Fincher is also known for having directed psychological thrillers such as Seven, Gone Girl, Fight Club, Zodiac and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, as well as being instrumental in the creation of U.S. television series House of Cards.

 

Mark Romanek

Mark Romance is an American filmmaker whose directing work includes feature films, television, music videos and commercials. The video above is one of Romanek’s music videos for Jay Z.

Romanek has wrote and directed the 2002 film One Hour Photo and directed the 2010 film Never Let Me Go.

Romaneks most notable music videos include “Hurt” By Johnny Cash, “Closer”by Nine Inch Nails and “Scream” by Michael&Janet Jackson. His music videos have won 20 MTV Video Music Awards, the one voted best was Jayz’s “99 Problems”, and he has also won 3 Grammy Awards for the best Short Form Music Video- which is more than any other director.
